BAE Systems acquired VT Group's 45% shareholding in BVT Surface Fleet Limited (BVT) on 30 October 2009. The business is now fully owned by BAE Systems and was renamed BAE Systems Surface Ships Ltd.

Our Company today brings together over 150 years of shipbuilding heritage to deliver a world-class maritime capability to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and other navies around the globe.

Our experience in military naval design, construction and delivery of complex whole ship, integration and support services encompasses the entire spectrum of military vessels from Aircraft Carriers, Amphibious/Auxiliary Vessels, Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes, Offshore Patrol Vessels, Fast Attack Craft, right through to Mine Counter Measure Vessels, Patrol Boats, Fast Interceptor Craft and Rigid Inflatable Boats.

Through a 15-year Terms of Business Agreement with the UK MOD, signed in July 2009, we will not only provide the backbone of the Royal Navy's surface fleet for the next 30 years and beyond, but will also secure the long-term sustainable future of sovereign warship building capability in the UK.

Employing over 7,000 people across Bristol, Portsmouth and Glasgow in the UK, we have the facilities, skills and partnerships to set the global standard in excellence as a trusted and innovative through-life surface ship partner in both the UK and international markets.
