The UK Armoured Fighting Vehicle Strategy

BAE Systems has worked with DSG for many years on its AFV programmes.

The AFV Strategy sets out several guiding principles for MoD's relationship with industry under its drivers of operational sovereignty and value for money.

Published in June 2009, it says that it is not necessary to retain industrial capabilities in the UK in order to achieve appropriate operational sovereignty and that the MoD will make greater use of the global market, "so long as we have assured access to the appropriate capabilities and expertise to design, modify, maintain, repair, overhaul, assemble, integrate and test our Armoured Fighting Vehicles."

It sets the Defence Support Group at the heart of this work.

BAE Systems has worked with DSG for many years on its AFV programmes, such as Warrior, and it intends to continue this productive relationship for both the FRES SV and Warrior upgrade programmes.
