AN/ALQ-212 ATIRCM/CMWS
Modern, highly lethal, infrared-seeking missiles can attack from any direction during any phase of flight. The AN/ALQ-212(V) advanced threat infrared countermeasures/common missile warning system (ATIRCM/CMWS) suite provides protection against an array of threats, including all infrared threat bands. It successfully defeated 10 of 10 infrared signature analysis models in live-fire tests.
This directable infrared countermeasures suite provides passive warning of missile approach using the AN/AAR-57 tri-service CMWS, which detects the missile, rejects any false alarms, and cues the onboard infrared jamming system’s jam head to the missile’s location. When the jam head finds the missile with its infrared tracking system, it emits a high-energy beam of infrared energy to defeat the missile’s infrared seeker. The AN/ALQ-212(V) incorporates one or more infrared jam heads to counter multiple missile attacks.
AN/ALQ-212(V) FEATURES
- Passive missile warning sensors
- Precise angle-of-arrival information
- Infrared tracker mounted on the jam head gimbal
- Laser- and arc-lamp jamming sources
