BAE Systems Surface Ships is a through life enterprise, which embodies the principle of whole life cycle capability management as a way of maximising the return on equipment investment.

We bring together the support infrastructure, engineering resources, specialist skill sets and domain knowledge to address the entire life cycle of ship from concept through to disposal. This approach enables us to design ships with consideration for effective in-service support from the outset and develop complementary upkeep regimes to drive down costs and maximise availability throughout a ship’s service life.

To achieve this, we have leveraged our experience in naval support to develop arrangements based on incentivised output-based contracting models, while at the same time adopting innovative commercial solutions for the delivery and maintenance of front-line capability.

Our support activities are tailored to meet individual customer requirements. This extends through a broad range of services, such as supply chain management, refit and repair, design authority, training and logistics, to performance-based integrated support packages. 

Furthermore, we have an established reputation in delivering Contractor Logistic Support solutions based on the principles of Contracting for Availability. This innovative approach sees the company assume risk and responsibility for ship availability by embracing all aspects of maintenance management, support and test, spares and repair parts, technical publications, logistics and training.
